The graph shows two lines. One shows the trend of a steady increase in the number of miles each year that people travel in their cars from 1968 to 1998. The other line shows the downward trend of fatal road accidents in which passengers or drivers have been killed. Even though the number of miles travelled each year is increasing, the safety of cars means that less people inside cars are being killed.
