title: PVC Production And Use

PVC ecobalance analysis

An ecobalance (or life cycle analysis) looks at the environmental impact of a particular product. It evaluates the raw materials used, manufacturing processes, product use and disposal. PVC has been compared with other materials used for the same application.

The analysis shows a series of environmental effects for each material. These help designers to choose the most acceptable material for a given situation.

The results shown are from research carried out by the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research.

Compare the environmental impacts of PVC with other suitable alternative materials.

The higher the environmental impact, the worse the material is.

Judge if the impact of PVC is more or less than the other materials.
