title: Asteroid Impact

Asteroid impact: high or low risk?

The hazard is that an asteroid could destroy all life on earth. It happened to the dinosaurs so does this mean it is a high risk?

Point the mouse to the graph to see the risk.

Low risk

Even though an asteroid could destroy all life on our planet, the chance of this happening is almost zero. In fact, there is more risk from the smaller asteroids because they are more likely to hit the earth. So insurance against asteroids is probably a waste of money!

This can't be right?

The risk of an asteroid causing serious damage to the earth is pretty small, but does this seem right? Do they appear to be more dangerous because of the possibility that they could destroy the earth?
